The Reel Appeal
The Reel Appeal is hosted by ScreenGeek’s Mark Salcido and Your Entertainment Corner’s Kelsey Loiselle as they discuss life, reviews, and the state of cinema today. The duo removes the nostalgia protection and takes a bat to classic movies to see if they stand the test of time. No film is safe.

Heeeeey! We decided to go back to our old format. We missed it so.
Here is what we have for you this week. There's news about postponing the Oscars, a Furiosa prequel, Bobba Fett is a sheriff, and Mark’s Man crush producing new material. We are excited to tell you all about it!
The Eddy is our Recent Review this week. Yeah, we binged that to give it a proper review. Plus, who doesn't like jazz?
Our Geriatric Cinematic, in keeping with the jazz theme, is Mo' Better Blues. We really miss seeing Denzel Washington on the big screen.
On next week's show, we see if Netflix's The Lovebirds can go on a double date with Something Wild. The 1986 Criterion selection (you read that right) can be found on HBO Now/Go or to rent on Vudu.

Hey, everyone! We're back with a bit of news this time around as we cover Black Mirror, IMAX drive-ins, The Mandalorian, San Diego Comic-Con at home, and NBC's Community. Woo!
Variety Time this week is Try This, Not That. Mark has something for you to watch. Kelsey? She's got your back, warning you away from a dumpster fire.
Jackie Chan's Police Story is our Geriatric Cinematic. Kelsey asked Mark for some Kung Fu, and this was his answer. Does Kelsey think it still holds up?
Next week's show we see if Netflix's The Eddy can hold up against Spike Lee's Mo Better Blues. The Spike Lee joint is available to rent on Amazon Prime, iTunes, or YouTube.

This week, our episode revolves around societal deconstruction. Sounds fun, huh? It's not all doom and gloom though, we promise.
We actually have some news to talk about! The Academy is finally opening the floodgates for VOD nominated films. Nicole Cage signs up for the role he was born to play as Joe Exotic in the Tiger King scripted series. Also, Mark's hope for Star Wars has finally been restored when Taika Waititi is announced to direct a feature film set in a galaxy far far away.
Then, on to Rebooting Westworld, the duo discuss Westworld's season three finale, Crisis Theory.
Our Geriatric Cinematic this week is Demolition Man. We tell you where the 3 seashell thing comes from. We know you're dying to find out!
Next week's show we give a critical and comedic watch on Jackie Chan's classic film, Police Story. You can find it streaming on the Criterion Channel.

We're different. So different that our episode this week is different than our usual differentness. And so, we only have two topics to cover.
Rebooting Westworld is about the penultimate episode that released and Mark has finally come to Kelsey's side on Maeve.
Our Recent Review is DEVS. Yes, we ditched our normal lock down template and are covering an entire show. But this one deserves it. You'll find out why.

Hey everyone! We missed you! While it feels like forever since we released our last episode, be sure that this episode won't drag on as much as the week did.
We bring back our Try This, Not That. Mark has a Try This, Kelsey has a Not That, and the duo fawn over DEVS. We hope you've watched the Hulu series because we 're reviewing it next week. That's right! It's that freaking awesome and we need you to watch it so you can follow along.
The new Westworld season is reaching its end and we are savoring the last bites with this week's Decoherence in our Rebooting Westworld
Our Geriatric Cinematic is Harlem Nights (1989). This is Kelsey's second viewing of an Eddie Murphy film from the '80s, but the more she sees the more she wants. And this was just a walk down memory lane for Mark. Does this hold up for either of them?

Welcome to the temple of Robo Jesus!
Variety Time has us telling of all the spectacular stay at home events you can pick from. Like SXSW, Cannes and, Tribeca. A lot of the major film festival circuits are streaming past winners or current submissions, while some studios are teaming up with directors and actors to make watching movies a little extra special.
We go over all the detail on this week's Westworld in our Rebooting Westworld segment, so beware of spoilers. And Dolores.
Our Geriatric Cinematic this week is Robocop. The one from 1987. Not the crappy remake that no one remembers. Directed by Paul Verhoeven of Starship Troopers fame, we find out if it still holds up?
Next week we're doing Harlem Nights which you can find on Amazon in preparation for the upcoming episode.

We always have your back. We also want you to know what to steer clear of. That's right. Mark watched Bloodshot, and that's what our Variety Time segment is filled with. It was so bad he actually called out Vin Diesel for the time it took to view the film back. He goes into torturous detail as to what made it an awful watch.
We cover the fourth episode of Westworld's new season in our Rebooting Westworld segment. We talk about the HUGE reveal about the black pearls and Dolores.
Mark finally gets to show Kelsey Ninja Scroll for our Geriatric Cinematic. It's an interesting anime from 1993 and we discuss if it still holds up?

While Mark normally chooses something Kelsey should watch, we switched the roles.
The duo discusses the pandemonium that is Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness in our What the F*** Did We Just Watch segment. There is a lot to cover and the story doesn't end with the documentary. It's the gift that keeps on giving.
This week's Rebooting Westworld covers episode 3, The Absence of Field, so we break it down in our usual fashion.
What goes with Tiger King like cheese and fine wine? A Little Princess. It's Kelsey's pick for our Geriatric Cinematic this week and Mark hasn't seen it. The match was unintentional but we were happy to do it anyway.

What do you get when you mix COVID-19 and The Reel Appeal? This new showformat. Mark and Kelsey do everything intheir normal episodes minus the news and Recent Review. Mark was stillable to find a connection to mention. This week, it’s Pandemonium.
Deathbed Do-Over makes a return this week. We talk about The Wolverineand how the 3rd act could have been made better. Also, Kelseyhas an 8-week-old kitten named Patches.
Kelsey and Mark discuss the merits of a rare straight forward storyline from the latest episode of Westworld.
The best part of this week’s show, in Kelsey’s opinion which is theonly opinion that counts, is the Geriatric Cinematic. 1978's Invasion of theBody Snatchers is up to bat and you will get Kelsey and Mark's takeon this classic sci-fi horror film. Unless they were already taken over by the pods.

Episode 41 - Let's Hunt For A Running Man
Wednesday Mar 18, 2020
Wednesday Mar 18, 2020
How is everyone? Are you all staying safe? Kelsey and Mark have a newepisode out for your listening pleasure, and the connection they'redoing is The Most Dangerous Game. So instead of playing a game of"Should I go out and possibly die or not"--which is a decidedly verydangerous game--stay in and decide between The Running Man and TheHunt.
Before that, though, we have the news, where Kelsey and Mark talkabout Universal releasing movies early, Hollywood losing a ton ofmoney due to COVID-19, and Donald Glover (Mark's boo) has new musicstreaming on his website.
The Hunt is our Recent Review. It was postponed a couple of times, andit finally came out so we could see what all the fuss was about. Ithas a lot of action. We get more into the message of the film in thespoiler section, so make sure you've seen it before charging ahead.
Our mid-show segment this week and for the weeks ahead will beRebooting Westworld. Yes, this beautiful, amazing, genius show is backfor a third season on HBO and we dissect it each week. We'll help incase you have any trouble figuring any of it out.
Our Geriatric Cinematic is The Running Man. Kelsey already knew it wasgoing to be an awesome movie because it came out the year she wasborn. Arnold Schwarzenegger stars and it really hassome messages that coincide with society today. At least it largelytakes place inside so our PTSD over people being outside is notspiked.
