The Reel Appeal
The Reel Appeal is hosted by ScreenGeek’s Mark Salcido and Your Entertainment Corner’s Kelsey Loiselle as they discuss life, reviews, and the state of cinema today. The duo removes the nostalgia protection and takes a bat to classic movies to see if they stand the test of time. No film is safe.

Episode 22 - Jojo's Secret Rabbit
Tuesday Oct 22, 2019
Tuesday Oct 22, 2019
Hey there! We are your imaginary friends bringing you a non-imaginary episode full of laughing and crying. We have the news about Batman casting (Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman!), Netflix leasing theatres to show its movies in so they can make an Oscar run, and John Cho injured his knee on the set of Cowboy Bebop.
Recently, Taika Waititi's Jojo Rabbit was released making it our Recent Review, recently. We caught that sucker and interrogated it to the full extent of movie critic law. Find out if it passed or was executed by firing squad. Even rabbits aren't safe from us.
We missed a week so our would-be Recent Review for our failed episode, Bong Joon Ho's Parasite is our Try This for Try This, Not That. We so wanted to dive into this with you. We have failed you. We won't let it happen again. Please don't hurt us.
Our long-winded Topic Discussion is about more seasoned director folk taking a huge cookie all over people's hopes and dreams. Stop it, old people. Let us Millenials ruin our lives in peace.
Our Geriatric Cinematic is Top Secret! No really. We're telling you. It's Top Secret! That's the title. None of that "Who's On First" stuff. We had some fun with this one. We always do but this one in particular aged like fine wine. Or cheese. Or things that age well.

Episode 21 - Don't Be A Joker
Tuesday Oct 08, 2019
Tuesday Oct 08, 2019
Kelsey hosts this week, and she is glad. Because that means there's less of Mark. We do our news segment where we talk about Clerks III finally being made, Tom Holland's iteration of Spider-Man staying in the MCU for another movie and Jordan Peele's Monkey Paw striking a five year deal with Universal Pictures. Not Universal Forge, like Kelsey thought.
Our Recent Review is Joker. This is not a Joke. Does it hit the mark? Does it fall short? Who is the Joker here? Is it you? Todd Phillips? I think he hopes it's you, but it's probably him.
Kelsey tortured Mark's poor soul with a certain rap song from the '80s. It warmed her cold heart. More precisely, Mark's reaction to the music video, The Karate Rap.
Our Geriatric Cinematic review is Taxi Driver. As Martin Scorsese complains about the MCU and Todd Phillips complains about "woke culture", we follow a man who complains about true filth. We should all aspire to be like none of them. Less complaining, people!

Episode 20 - Which Rambo Is This?
Tuesday Oct 01, 2019
Tuesday Oct 01, 2019
Mark is hosting again! Rejoice! Kelsey co-hosts and we have a special guest, Judy Manning!
It's all Rambo, all the time. Except when it isn't. We introduce Judy Manning of Your Entertainment Corner and talk about how we met. Everyone is dying to know.
Our Recent Review is Rambo: Last Blood. There is nothing we've left unsaid, especially because Judy was there to make us tow the line. She's a ball-buster, that one. There was a hell of a lot to say. A. Hell. Of. A. Lot.
Back to Judy, as Mark asks her really nosy questions. Where is she from? Where does she work? Yada yada yada. Mark, mind your own business. Seriously.
Our Geriatric Cinematic review is Rambo: First Blood Part II. This movie came out before Kelsey was born, but hey, it was still a lot of fun and Judy brings up a few good points. Kelsey and Mark slack off and bring up nothing of value, but you're used to that.

Episode 19 - Ad Astra: A Space Odyssey
Tuesday Sep 24, 2019
Tuesday Sep 24, 2019
Kelsey is hosting this week, and Mark has no choice but to be there. Woe. Is. Mark. We're a little light on the news, covering only Chuck Palahniuk's book Invisible Monsters getting a television series and The Boondocks returning on HBO Max with their original creator. But let's cut the chit-chat and get right down to brass tacks, or brass taxes, as Mark likes to say. His way sounds more menacing, and I like it.
Ad Astra recently released, and it has become our Recent Review. We really had a lot to say about this film, even if it was lacking in dialogue itself. It had its reasons. Don't judge it for being the space junkie whore it was meant to be. It may be a movie but it has feelings, too.
Simon Says is back!!!!! He says he's Simple Simon. We just call him, "Ugh. That guy again?!" He questions balls. Hard ones. We'll let you stew on that while he stews on the mountain of new phrases Mark stepped in while trying to wind this segment down.
Our Geriatric Cinematic is 2001: A Space Odyssey. Mark is stuck in an odyssey of his own as he listens to Kelsey speak her mind. You shouldn't be surprised. She's selfish like that. Besides, Mark clearly enjoys it. Or it's Stockholm syndrome. You decide.

Episode 18 - Curse Of The Spider-Man
Friday Sep 20, 2019
Friday Sep 20, 2019
Mark hosts this cursed Spider-Man episode. With all of the difficulties we've had getting this one out, he put all his blood, sweat and tears into making it happen. And Kelsey loves his tears.
Our news topics for the week are JJ Abrams and Bad Robot teaming up with Warner Media, X-Men, and Spider-Man animated series are available on Disney+ while Netflix acquires Seinfeld, and Movie Pass has "passed".
Our somewhat Recent Review is Spider-Man: Far From Home. It's only fitting since this is Kelsey's favorite iteration of the character and this film has finally hit home release status. It's not all sunshine and rainbows. Kelsey makes a few references that will make you want to head to Cheers and have a few drinks. Ya know--where everybody knows your name.
We have a Try This this week. Amazon Prime coming in strong with Undone. We really need you to see this. Talk about it. Tell us you agree with us. Tell us you love us. Tell. Us.
Mark recaps 2002's Spider-Man for us with great gusto! You will remember everything you wish to forget about that version of Spider-Man. Then we lead you into our Geriatric Cinematic Review, Spider-Man 2. Join us as we discuss a passive-aggressive Mary-Jane and Peter Parker's longing, unblinking gaze. Or maybe his eyes were just glassy from drugs. You decide.

Kelsey hosts Mark. Duh. Were you expecting someone else? This week's news segment covers Kristen Stewart, Richard Kelly directing a Rod Serling biopic, the Face/Off remake no one is asking for, and Todd Phillips's Joker.
Our Recent Review is IT Chapter Two, where we discuss IT Chapter Two. Wanna know what we think of IT Chapter Two? Listen to our review of IT Chapter Two to see what we think of IT Chapter Two.
Deathbed Do-Over is baaaaaaaack! We attempt to fix M. Night Shyamalan's The Village and Kelsey attempts to kill Mark with her endings. She almost succeeds. This could've been our last episode. But alas, the dude is hardy. Maybe next time...
Our Geriatric Cinematic this week is Killer Klowns From Outer Space. A wonderful coming of age story. Maybe for the popcorn in the clothes hamper. Lots to see in a single girl's dirty hamper. They grow up so fast!

Episode 16 - Not Ready For These Sisters
Wednesday Aug 28, 2019
Wednesday Aug 28, 2019
Mark has hosting duties this week, and Kelsey is along for the ride. We have more Keanu news, frustrating Spider-Man news, and maybe even a little light at the end of the tunnel. This rollercoaster is as wild as two sisters and their aunt. You know which one I’m talking about.
Our Recent Review this week is Ready or Not, which always gets the song stuck in our head. Now that I mentioned it, maybe it’s stuck in yours now, too. Fugees foreverrrrrrr! We were happy to watch this and we have a lot to say. You have to listen to our fragile feelings!
D23 was attended and there was so much awesome stuff there, but man was the media scheduling disorganized, so we did our best to break it down for you with what we had.
You might like some of what you hear, especially if you need a little pick-me-up after the Spider-Man news. Like ice cream after a breakup.
Last but not least, our Geriatric Cinematic is A Tale of Two Sisters. Look, we know what you’re thinking. Stop it. Just stop.

Episode 15 - Slumming It With Adolescents
Wednesday Aug 21, 2019
Wednesday Aug 21, 2019
Kelsey is hosting with her voluptuous co-host Mark! Vivacious! Bootylicious! Anyway, we have some changes in store for you this week, like awkward adolescents learning about themselves. We talk about Neill Blomkamp dropping Robocop, Peter Fonda's passing and CBS merging back with Viacom. All these changes! We can't take it!
Our Recent Review is Good Boys, and ho-lee poop is this a great film. Full of crass jokes and inappropriate situation, bringing us back to our 'tween years. Ah, the bad ol' days.
The Farewell is our Try This pick, while Too Old to Die Young is our Not This victim. More changes! Just look at these titles! I'm cryingggggggggg!
Our Geriatric Cinematic this week is Slums of Beverly Hills. A coming-of-age story that will make you glad you are an adult. Just kidding...no one wants to be an adult. But it's still a great movie that you should watch.

Episode 14 - ¡Hola, Soy Machete!
Wednesday Aug 14, 2019
Wednesday Aug 14, 2019
¡Hola! ¡Somos Mark y Kelsey! ¿Do you care? ¡Probably not! ¡But everyone cares about real-life heroes, and Danny Trejo became one last week! ¡So goes the news as Disney becomes our hero for canceling most of Fox's film schedule and Edgar Wright, Mark's own personal hero, starts work on his next project! ¡Delicioso!
¡Our discussion topic is about Universal canceling The Hunt due to the fear of not offending anyone! ¡We sort of don't hold back! ¡It felt great!
¡Our Recent Review is Dora and the Lost City of Gold! ¡We let you know what worked in this film and what didn't! ¡Qué bueno!
¡Another blast from the past comes back around in the form of Rocco's Modern Life: Static Cling! ¡It hit Netflix on Friday and we grew up watching this so we're sure you'll want to hear about it!
¡Last but not least, we talk about From Dusk 'Til Dawn as our Geriatric Cinematic review! ¿Why'd we choose this? ¡Danny Trejo is in this and our recent review! ¿Can you say, Danny Trejo?

Kelsey and Mark are back! Whether you like it or not! They play a streaming service version of Duck, Duck, Goose for their news segment called Amazon, Amazon, Netflix. Not really, but it sure felt that way. And guess what? Netflix, sadly, isn't it.
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw is our Recent Review, where we talk about just about anything and everything that could have made it even remotely better.
Simon Gruber returns! The Brit pokes fun at American politics while also making himself look silly for not know the difference between the movie Boondock Saints and the show The Boondocks. But hey, Kelsey's right there with him, to be honest.
Last but not least, 48 Hrs. is our Geriatric Cinematic pick. Kelsey discovers how much she really missed out on where Eddie Murphy's golden days are concerned and Mark rubs it in her face. 'Cause he can.
