The Reel Appeal
The Reel Appeal is hosted by ScreenGeek’s Mark Salcido and Your Entertainment Corner’s Kelsey Loiselle as they discuss life, reviews, and the state of cinema today. The duo removes the nostalgia protection and takes a bat to classic movies to see if they stand the test of time. No film is safe.

Tuesday May 18, 2021
Tuesday May 18, 2021
Hey everyone! Here is our Recent Review of A24's Saint Maud and our Geriatric Cinematic of 1968's Rosemary’s Baby. We bring up the age-old question of “is it religion or a mental break?” You help us decide.
We also cover a controversy surrounding the Flamin’ Hot Cheetos biopic, rumors about Amazon making a play for MGM, and new directors for Marvel’s Secret Wars. Most importantly, though, Mark spends a whole segment explaining his trip in the Starship Enterprise with the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation. He even brought a list of favorite episodes.
Join us next week as we review Zack Snyder's latest movie, Army of the Dead. We pair that with the zombie/not zombie film, 28 Days Later for our Geriatric Cinematic. You can find the zombie bank heist movie streaming on Netflix on May 21st and the Danny Boyle film streaming on Hulu or other on-demand services.

Tuesday May 04, 2021
Hey there folks! Our Recent Review this week is Amazon Studios Without Remorse. Being that it’s based on a Tom Clancy novel, we chose The Hunt for Red October as our Geriatric Cinematic.
We also cover more ArcLight and Pacific Theaters news, along with a Marvel sizzle reel that has us hyped. Variety Time this week? Films that traumatized us as kids and they aren't what you would expect.
In next week's show, we take a look at one of the most classic Stephen King adaptations, 1994's The Shawshank Redemption for our Geriatric Cinematic. We pair that up with Netflix's Monster that's premiering on May 7th. You can find the Frank Darabont directed film to rent on Apple TV, Google Play, Amazon, VODs, or probably somewhere in your DVD/Bluray collection.

We’re back with an action-packed episode! Warner Bros.'s Mortal Kombat is our Recent Review and 1994's Street Fighter is our Geriatric Cinematic. What better way to celebrate these cinematic masterpieces than with a few bonker stories from the making of Street Fighter for this week's Variety Time.
In the news, we cover the announcement of Captain America 4 and the results, and our thoughts, on the 2021 Academy Awards ceremony. No jalapeño poppers this year, but we got some surprise wins.

Hey folks! We’ve got Netflix's Concrete Cowboy as our Recent Review and 1948's Bicycle Thieves as our Geriatric Cinematic. Mark takes up the whole Variety Time segment for himself to rant about a plant he couldn’t find for a school project. So selfish.
In the news, we cover Warrior coming back for a third season, Olivia Coleman in talks to join Marvel’s Secret Invasion, and Disney and the original Predator screenwriters in a battle over the rights to the franchise.
Next week's show will be filled with kicks, punches, and headbutts. Our Recent Review will be 2021's Mortal Kombat and we see if 1994's Street Fighter still holds up. Hey there you moviegoers and non-moviegoers? Our latest episode is here! We review A24's Minari for our Recent Review and give The Joy Luck Club the Geriatric Cinematic treatment. We also have some news to talk about regarding A deal between Sony and Netflix, the fifth installment of the Indiana Jones franchise, and a live-action Gundam movie.
What does not have us feeling particularly joyous or lucky is the news about ArcLight Cinemas and how their closure affects us. That is our Variety Time and we have some grievances.
In next week's show, we look at cowboys, fathers, sons, and bicycle thieves. Our Recent Review will be on Concrete Cowboy and we pair that with 1948's Bicycle Thieves. You can find the Idris Elba starring movie streaming on Netflix and the classic neorealism film on HBO Max and The Criterion Channel.

Aaand, we’re back! We cover Godzilla vs. Kong as our Recent Review and 1962's King Kong vs. Godzilla as our Geriatric Cinematic. It’s hard to keep them straight, we know. So here’s a hint: One is actually pretty and good, and the other is really awful.
In the news, Warner Bros are going back to their old theatrical ways, Rian Johnson signs with Netflix for Knives Out sequels, and Barry Jenkins takes his overall TV deal to HBO and HBO Max.
We also have a few selections for you to check out in our Try This, Not That segment. Kelsey tries not to break Mark's heart with her take on Cinemax's Warrior.
On next week's show be there to listen to the duo discuss their Recent Review of Minari and see if 1993's The Joy Luck Club still holds up. You can find both films available to rent on Amazon, Google Play, YouTube, and other VODs.
